Mario Testino, photographer born 30 October 1954 in Lima, Peru. He has a photographic style that has been described as “luxury realism’, Mario is one of fashion’s most sought after photographer.

“He is ruthless in his vision. His work does not expose vulnerability, worry, neuroses and conflict, because he edits the world he wants to present and those aspects aren’t in it. He determinidely excludes who and what doesn’t interest him, and tirelessly works to bring out the life and laughter and beauty that he admires.” -Alexandra Shulman, editor of British Vogue.

Now at the top of his profession, Testino’s popularity with designers and fashion editors comes from his professionalism, good nature and his unerring ability to take beautiful pictures which sell clothes.

Testino is credited as one of the names in the industry that helped bring the end of the supermodel. Rather than pay the exorbitant fees demanded by Naomi, Linda in the early nineties Testino worked with a different breed of model, including Kate Moss, Stella Tennant and other beautiful English models.

Mario Testinos fame really took hold in the nineties, after a sitting with Diana, Princess of Wales. Testino recreated Diana’s image, he shot pictures which shocked some royal watchers with an attractive informality.

Testino has created advertising campaigns for high profile clients such as Burberry, Versace, Gap and Gucci as well as countless editorial shoots all over the world. His subjects include stars from the worlds of fashion, cinema, royalty and music. Kate Moss, Madonna, Gwyneth Paltrow, Diana Princess of Wales, Robbie Williams and John Galliano.
